What's the difference between a kleptomaniac and a literalist?

The literalist takes things literally.
The kleptomaniac takes things, literally.

Had to dig out my MBP for some OS X debugging and wondered why it feels so slow. Still not sure, but here's some semi controlled Geekbench numbers for my machines:

MBP (Mid 2016, last pre-touchbar 13", 3,1 Core i7): 3873/7449
Razer Blade Stealth (Late 2018, i7-8550U): 4364/13498
Desktop (i5-8500): 5704/23235)

Interesting how little single core has improved.

Also interesting to compare the TDPs: 28W on the MBP, 15W (!) on the RBS and 65W (!) on my Desktop.

Woke up in a better mood today, did some running (slowly easing my way back into a regular running schedule, hoping my hip doesn't immediately seize up again) and now not trying to let my good mood destroyed by obscure build errors :)

I have a Photoshop license I got (unwillingly) within my photography bundle in the Adobe cloud whatever.

I just used it for the first time and wow, a lot of water went down that river since I last openened PS in probably 2005 or so.

This track wanted to be written - took me only about 2 hours or so.

Not a masterpiece, but it had to be said.

Not a huge Jacob Collier fan, but that Tiny Desk concert is *something else*. Tiny Disk is killing it lately.

The good thing about being a remote working freelancer is that I can schedule most of my work as I like. This makes a heatwave somewhat bearable, because I can work into the cooler night.

The downside is that I can't sleep any longer because it gets too hot, so I collected a sizeable sleep deficit this week.

Oh well.

My keyboard arrived today. It's a Ducky One 2 [sic!] TKL in the beautiful Horizon color scheme, with Cherry MX brown switches. It feels good, but I can already tell that this is going to be quite a bit of a change for me, as I wrote on flat keyboards exclusively for probably the last 10 years or so. Made quite a couple of mistakes in the beginning.

Let's see how this goes.

About four weeks until my late summer vacation. I need that break so badly.

Turns out it's a bad idea to have a hard reference in form of an event listener directly on window on an ember service that's basically connected to everything. Usually not a problem as services are persistent but in tests they get recreated for each test.

Spent the day painfully debugging a frontend test suite that now leaks so much money it crashes Chrome. (TIL that this happens at around 1.5GB for a rendering process)

We don't have a good idea what might cause this problem and all profiling so far lead me to ... not much.

I may have accidentally dipped my toes into mechanical keyboard waters. Mainly because there are just no good compact non mac keyboards out there outside of that realm.

Let's see how this goes.

My last dream tonight was a full on war movie with me in the middle. No idea what it's trying to tell me but I don't assume it wants to send a positive signal.

I’d definitely miss the sound of the Baltic Sea, the gentle waves of a tamed version of the ocean. This is a good place. I wouldn’t mind keeping it for a while.
