Does anyone have any recommendations for better understanding pattern matching? I don't understand why it's valuable but see smart people talking about it.

Finally finished my two blog posts on why I’m weaning myself away from Twitter in favour of Mastodon:

Hi everyone :) I'm a lawyer by day who hacks on projects (primarily in Ruby) in my spare time. I'm currently working on a plugin for Jekyll that generates photo galleries. I'm developing it in the open (github.com/pyrmont/jekyll-tenj) and am looking forward to getting it to an alpha stage soon!

I'm happy to say TruffleRuby 1.0.0 RC 6 is now out. You'll probably have to update master in your ruby version installer of choice.

We fixed quite a few bug and filled in some performance gaps. A lot of this was based on user bug reports. If you're interested, please give it a whirl and report any issues you encounter.

Hi all,

I am a full time/stack Rails/Ruby dev. I'm also a big fun of Hanami, Dry-rb and Rom-rb.

I recently learn Elixir and Phoenix and it blows my mind.

Glad to be a part of ruby.social.

Best,
Damian

When I've got code that outputs what I want, I'm often tempted to skip writing tests. Invariably, after forcing myself to write some, I'll discover an edge case that doesn't perform as expected and be reminded anew that this is why I'm writing them.

This seems like it could be a cool idea. Are most people here for collaboration, networking, or just to share projects? I love the idea of a social network for Ruby devs.

I'm incredibly new to being a dev, and I absolutely love it so far. Been programming since January, and I have a job working with Rails. Currently spending every spare moment coding/trying to git güd.
