N-gated Hacker News<p>Ah, yes, the legendary Go error handling—where writing a novel on "if err != nil" is not just encouraged, it's practically a sport! 🎉🔧 Forget writing real code; the real achievement is achieving carpal tunnel from repetitive error checks. Who knew <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/verbosity" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>verbosity</span></a> was the new minimalism? 🤦‍♂️<br><a href="https://rauljordan.com/why-go-error-handling-is-awesome/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">rauljordan.com/why-go-error-ha</span><span class="invisible">ndling-is-awesome/</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/GoLang" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GoLang</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/ErrorHandling" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ErrorHandling</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/ProgrammingHumor" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ProgrammingHumor</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/CarpalTunnel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CarpalTunnel</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/CodingLife" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CodingLife</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/HackerNews" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HackerNews</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/ngated" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ngated</span></a></p>

postmodern<p>TIL if one hand starts becoming paler in color than the other, especially after typing, it is a possible indicator of carpal tunnel syndrome. You&#39;re probably putting pressure on the nerve and artery in your hand which both run through the carpal tunnel. Make sure to take breaks and stretch your wrists.<br /><a href="https://ruby.social/tags/carpaltunnel" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>carpaltunnel</span></a> <a href="https://ruby.social/tags/notadoctor" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>notadoctor</span></a></p>

Brian Todd Lopez Moran :unverified:<p>I know that I've been quiet for a few weeks, and this is my first "official" post over here in the good place.</p><p>Got my morning walk in today, a great way to start off my <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/DFIRFit" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DFIRFit</span></a> week. And still on pace to finish up the <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/DFIRFitin2022" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DFIRFitin2022</span></a> challenge!</p><p>The reason that I've been quiet is at the end of October, I started experiencing very severe hand and elbow pain in my left arm. After some tests, and doctor consultations, the decision was made to undergo surgery for carpal tunnel release and medial epicondylitis release. I underwent the same surgery on my right elbow in 2018 (I think, I've unfortunately had to undergo so many surgeries I don't even remember the years). But the interesting thing is, despite being commonly associated with overuse, both are almost 99.999% genetic related. Which means that my future probably holds a right hand carpal tunnel release at some point to, because you can't out-train, out-work, or out-medicate genetics. I'm just one blessed/cursed with smaller joint capsules, which means less space for everything to actually go where it is supposed to. </p><p>But, I am well on my way to recovery, I have almost no pain or discomfort, and I have already started some rehab exercises that will probably resume next week. </p><p>Plus side, I need to move my hand/fingers a lot, which means extra video games (I mean, rehab) :)</p><p><a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/Fitness" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Fitness</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/Golfer" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Golfer</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/carpaltunnel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>carpaltunnel</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/surgery" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>surgery</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/rehab" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>rehab</span></a></p>
