DezoitoI loved these llamas peacefully grazing among the ruins of Pumapungo ("the door of the puma" in Quechua), a city laid by the Incas centuries ago. This place, that was compared to the empire capital, Cusco, was the northern border of the Inca territory. It is in current day Cuenca, Ecuador.<br>

DezoitoAncient Inca engineering at its finest: the agricultural terraces of Huchuy Qosqo (Kakya Qawani), like a giant stone staircase in the mountain. Each level required precise stonework. While terracing is common in the Sacred Valley, their scales and precisions remind us of the immense effort required to build them.<br>

New Amauta<p>Pachakuteq was the 9th Inka of Tawantinsuyu (Inkan Empire), turning it from a kingdom to an Empire. He defeated the Chankas in 1438, saving the Inkas and making them the dominant Andean power.
