Picking up dark grey stitches from a black lace edge at night is every bit as much fun as it sounds.

#wipwednesday am knitting a cotton Aran jumper for a 1 year old, using leftover yarn - back includes dark brown in the stripes whereas front includes green (sleeves might have to include orange) #knitting
I lost my #knitting mojo for a while, recently, getting bogged down in a big project that left me frankly bored, but recently I parked that and have had a lot of fun just punching out small items, gloves, hats, etc. It really is a balm to the soul.
All knitting done on the Jirachi sweater. Just ends to weave in and blocking. Started swatching with the luxury hand spun yarn.
Matching yarn and project is underestimated. At my level of handspinning I have to take the yarn as a starting point. So I'll swatch to find out what type of fabric this yarn wants to be and then search a suitable pattern.

My current project is a hooded shawl. I finished the shawl part and I'm wet blocking it while I start working on the hood. I hope it will turn out all right

Archivists working in digital preservation are awesome people. Knitters are also awesome people. It‘s most awesome when both groups come together in one person at Cambridge University.
These patterns are beautiful, I want all of them, and I just wish I was a better knitter.
Just discovered this *super* cool website: https://looseends.org/
Folks sign up as volunteer finishers to finish #FiberCraft projects for folks that can't finish themselves, due to death or disability or something. Sounds like an incredible way to gain experience with a craft while supporting your community in a really tactile way!
Needed a knitting palette cleanser, so knocked out this new pattern - The Emotional Support Little Chickie, a pocket-sized comfort fowl.
Mistakes were made. And that's OK... at least the safety eyes are kinda even. Now that I know the ropes, I think I might make several to surprise-gift to people here at the nursing home.
The child-like instant joy it brings to others is everything!

Bored at work so minor update! I joined a mystery knit along blanket and I've been meaning to post about it but.... Meh.
Each month they send us 1-2 patterns to knit and at the end of the year we'll join them all together to get rather unique blankets.
Here's my squares for January.*

Any one coming to Woolly Good Gathering in Edinburgh this coming weekend?
I have a LOT of handspun yarn to use. A LOT. Did I say that before?
Some of it is older and bulkier. I rarely use bulky anymore...
I have been spinning DK because all the sweaters I want to make are that weight.
Doing a variety of crafts is helping me right now, mentally.
I think counting down my stash (and counting up handspun skeins) is helping me to work towards a goal of continuing to use my stash.
Numbers and comparisons are fun sometimes. But at the moment, not so much. Maybe I'll show stats in the future?
Watching other folks process and spin their fiber helps right now too.
I've been tracking how much yarn and (crochet) thread I use in my fiber arts notebook.
(Yes, I bookbound my own notebook but it doesn't look pretty yet so no pics. )
Since 2022? I never calculated how much I used up per year. I don't have time. But seeing myself actually using up my acrylics and sweater quantities, while actually making progress towards spinning up these fleeces is nice.
Idk if I should actually calculate the numbers like an actual "stash down".
#Knitting question. Who has used square knitting needles? How do you like them if you have? And have any Canadian knitters out there used Kollage Square needles and liked them?
