Many years later, we went back and this is what we found. It was insanity. City folk can truly be idiotic. They will just walk out in traffic, not even checking to see if a moving vehicle is heading their way. No parking? Well, we'll see about that!

The poor locals, I felt so bad for them. We didn't stop this day. So grateful I had visited a number of times before the craziness.

Because of this, it was closed, then...

At the top of a steep road, looking down on sheer craziness. It's only a two-lane road with a narrow shoulder, but cars are parking everywhere. There is a very long line of traffic ahead and to the right, a cop is standing in the road. Colourful, autumn woods line the road.

When I first moved to Toronto, some friends took me here. At the time, not many seemed to know about it, there were few people around. Then years later, more folk discovered it as part of their Sunday drives.

Amazing-looking rocky terrain. Pink and orange sandstone streaked with white undulate to form a wavy surface. A few people are walking around. The area is surrounded by woodlands.

No endorsement from Karen Vecchio, the exiting Conservative MP on her controversial replacement.

“We have different values... I entered from the centre, and Andrew Lawton entered from the right.”

Vecchio said she believes the Conservatives are at risk of losing the seat. 😲

Our #Rogers connection went down about 30 minutes ago. Called in, and the recording claims multiple outages in central #Ontario are due to power failures due to the ice storm. I don’t see any power outages in Ottawa. 🤦🏻

The waterfront from which the previous image was taken. The fort we can barely see is Old Fort Niagara, on the American side of the Niagara River, which begins here and acts as an international border by flowing into Lake Erie. Well, the river runs north, but it does separate the land mass. :)

There is a corresponding Canadian fort, Fort George, down to the right. The forts saw a lot of action during the 7 Year's War and the American Revolution.

To the left, we see a gazebo with a cool weathervane atop its roof, looking at the view of the lake and an old fort that is on the other side of the lake to the left and the beginning of the Niagara River to the right. The grey sky is reflect in the water, to the right we see two trees. One is still mostly green but showing signs of the season; the one closer to us is an outrageous orange, the only burst of colour in the image. There are people standing in the gazebo and sitting or walking along the waterfront.

It’s not lost on me that it takes more than a message, especially with the way the current mayor has run things. But I don’t think “balanced approaches” have much life left in them given the world. Promising the world and saying all the low taxes and wide roads and blah blah blah can’t have much staying power especially if cars are about to get 25% more expensive #cdnpoli #ottawa #onpoli #ontario

Here’s some #cdnpoli hot takes given its an election and why not - if Pierre loses, its a toss for Ford or Smith as leaders of the federal #conservatives And given the data and polling from #ottawa centre, Joel could mount a decent run for mayor in 2026 if he could get his ground game extended into the suburbs. I dont hold much hope for Ottawa but there’s gotta be someone who can galvanize the burbs with the right message #ontario #onpoli #canada

Having a hard time believing the wind is only gusting at 35km/h

Debris is flying around everywhere, trees are whipping and bending. This storm that's about to hit us doesn't seem like a joke... maybe they'll let us go home early? eehhh?... LOL nah...

EDIT: Our outdoor office decor is FLYING through the parking lot. We're scrambling around bringing the plants and signs inside. Not a single drop of rain or snow yet.

A reminder for those voting in #Toronto York-Centre

While Conservative leader #Poilievre did manage to fire 3 "unsuitables" yesterday, he overlooked Roman Baber, a former MPP who was fired by #DougFord! in the early days of the pandemic for his anti-science, "let-er-rip" stance.

Mr Baber was born in the USSR & immigrated to #Canada as a teen. Today he spends much time flying flags to raise support & money for Israel, alongside deputy leader MP Melissa Lantsman.
