Hey #Seattle #tech folks. A friend of a friend is in need of some empathetic helpdesk technician level assistance in choosing a new Windows PC and then getting their data moved over to it from their old machine.

It's probably a hour to gather their requirements and recommend a decent PC and then an afternoon on-site to help them migrate data and install apps.

Preference for female/femme folks as this will be an in-person gig for a woman.

I'm generally more optimistic about #washington state and #seattle area politics (vs national), but my outlook is being tested yet again with more Dem own goals. The latest relates to a promising rent stabilization bill that's almost to the finish line. But just as they're about to get a bold victory, senate Dems, of their own initiative, amended this bill to increase the caps from 7% to 10% + inflation and also exempted single family housing rentals. This is mocking the idea rent stabilization

With the upcoming week of glorious #Seattle weather, don't sleep on the Japanese Gardens in the arboretum. Even on a sunny Sunday parking was possible (if a pain in the ass), and it's a lovely walk.

So naturally Bob Kettle, city council's most excited ex-cop who wants a spy network, refused to turn over video footage of my assault directly infront of his home surveillance camera 🥴

I guess Bob Kettle likes his privacy more than solving crimes.

Yet here we are, spying on a few thousand old asian grannies in the CID and probably helping get them in trouble with ICE.

As we said months ago when the city council voted for this dragnet spy network, there are now people whose entire day and life will be on these cameras.

Each of these near neighborhood-wide deployments cover critical services and in some cases enough essential services that a person might be on camera everytime they leave home for years on end.
