Our neighbours’ beech trees appear sturdy and serene in the february sunshine of the Vale of Clwyd, marking a boundary as they have done for a hundred years or more. But appearances can deceptive. In this pic one has already been lost in the line during a storm a year or two ago. Below them out of the picture the next two down in the line were felled by storm Darragh last month. None of them are secure.

Happy #Tuesday, y'all.
I'm having a few days off with a sickness bug. Not nice, but there you go.

In totally unrelated news, I noticed these really pretty little #fungi growing outside our back gate underneath the magnificent #beech #tree who guards our home from uninvited zephyrs and earth-bound wraiths.

Don't know what it is, but I love the lilac grey colour.

And don't worry, I'm not going to eat it.

Update: it's a lilac fibre cap Inocybe geophylla var. lilacina. Very toxic, apparently, but very pretty, parasol shaped with siken looking radial threads that are an amethyst lilac colour with a hunt of pale grey.
