#TheBeaverton nails it once again. Simple solution
“But then Trump went and, to use a macro-economic term, ‘shot America in the dick’. So now it’ll be easier to just buy the whole place.”

"A network of #Xitter accounts are pumping out thousands of posts about the Canadian economy and alleged support within Canada for U.S. President Donald Trump’s annexation threat."
There is now a bot account posting new YouTube videos by #PierrePoilievre : @www.youtube.com.channel.ucs1xwrtmeasnhyphgjjtbfw
It's useful if you're curious about the messages Mr. Poilievre wants to transmit to the general public, in his own voice.
So far as I know, there is no similar account for the other main party leaders; I'd be happy to share the addresses of such accounts, if they exist. It's a shame no party has an official account on the Fediverse yet.

And #SigmarGabriel is right!
#Canada and #Mexico, while having a lot of indigenous roots, AS well as Asian and African, the majority of people have ancestral roots on the European continent and speak one of its languages.
But things should not be hastened, the #EuropeanUnion did not start as such.

IMO, starting with a fast-track implementation of a free-trade area...
For the Canadians here getting discouraged by the polls, remember that many of them are faked. The wave of Russian bots is trying to overwhelm. Don't let them. Keep an eye on this site:
"Pierre Poilievre s’est lui aussi dit contre la loi 21, affirmant que l’État ne devrait pas s’ingérer dans les apparences de ses citoyens."

And another candidate is dropped, this time by the Liberals in Edmonton. I'm thinking of starting a poll to see which party ends up dropping the most...
The #NDP have kept all their candidates so far, I think. Maybe there's just not much oppo research being conducted against them.
On the latest episode of the #PaulWells podcast, he and Vassy Kapelos agree that "there's not a lot of daylight" between #MarkCarney and #PierrePoilievre on how we should respond to the #TrumpTariffs (and on policy in general).

This is how I'm feeling about #elxn45 as well. I'll be disappointed if the #CPC doesn't win and the Liberals are rewarded despite ten years of no per capita growth (etc.); but at least Mr. Carney would have some good policies.
@AlisonCreekside What's the case for strategic voting at present?
I'm not an #NDP supporter, but if I were why wouldn't I look at @338Canada and conclude that the chance of the #CPC winning is very small, and anyway that the policy differences between #MarkCarney and #PierrePoilievre are narrow? Why shouldn't an NDP supporter vote for the NDP given the current situation?
An important notice for my Canadian friends about the upcoming election...
(CW: Contains lots of appropriate swearing.)
@dcopeland I'm on the right (it's in my bio). I see the current housing crisis as largely the result of bad government policies, such as zoning that only permits single detached homes, high development fees, and immigration rates disconnected from construction rates.
Consequently, the promises of Mr. Poilievre to use federal sticks to force municipalities to improve housing policies seem to me to be the right path to lower housing prices.
"[F]or older voters — especially Boomers and older Gen Xers — [Canada is broken] is like nails on a chalkboard. They hate it. Not because it’s wrong, but because it threatens a version of Canada they still believe in. A Canada that worked. A Canada that rewarded hard work, played fair, and gave them everything they have now."

@johannab There's no way in which a candidate for Parliament should ever say, even in jest, that a Canadian should be turned over to another country for a bounty. Are we concerned about foreign interference in Canadian politics or not?
Do you remember this story from 2012? https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/jerry-bance-marketplace-1.3217797
This is much worse. It's really hard to understand why Mr. Carney hasn't acted quickly.
As I commented elsewhere, it's baffling that #MarkCarney hasn't yet thrown #PaulChiang out of the Liberal Party. Surely that will happen soon?
It's interesting to watch a neophyte politician lead a party.
"NDP MP Jenny Kwan on the Carney Liberals candidate Paul Chiang advocating for his political competition and a Canadian to be taken to Chinese consulate for a CCP bounty, “in what universe is this normal?” Kwan has been targeted by CCP officials herself in the past."
I think I'll create an account for posting #PierrePoilievre videos. People on the Fediverse ought to have the opportunity to hear what he actually says, and not just listen to what other people think he says.
I listened to a good one today, for instance, about his plans to reinforce Canadian unity, prosperity and independence from the US by promoting an East-West energy corridor.
Tareq Hadhad, founder of Peace by Chocolate in Halifax, Syrian refugee, humanitarian advocate, who inspired a movie based on his story, dared call what's happening in Gaza a genocide, in line with the ruling from the International Court of Justice. So the Advocates Society, an organization of 6000 lawyers, judges and advocates, cancelled the speech he was supposed to give at their conference, the keynote adress. #CanPol https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/advocates-society-syrian-chocolate-keynote-tareq-hadhad-1.7496525
Good to hear the #PaulChiang story with the lead on #CBCRadio news this morning. Here it is, if you're unaware: https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/liberal-paul-chiang-bounty-joe-tay-conservative-1.7496751
"GTA Liberal candidate apologizes for suggesting people claim China's bounty on Conservative"
Mr. Chiang ought to drop out; the Liberals ought to expel him; any voters who support him ought to be ashamed of themselves.
