Hi all, I'm a current @outreachy Intern for the December 2024 round, working on improving the #observability of Wikimedia Foundation's Wiki Education Dashboard.

I have about 9 months (hybrid and fully remote) experience in Open Source Web Development and Backend Engineering, and I'm open to remote entry level / junior roles starting from March 2025.

You can read about why you should hire me here: emptycodesalsowrites.hashnode. and thank you in advance for any help ✨🫡

empty's world · Why You Should Hire MeBy emptycodes

So, my world was turned upside down on Friday.

That morning, my Wife found out she’d gotten orders to New Orleans. That evening, she asked me for a divorce.

It’s not nasty or toxic. I’ve fallen short over the years and, despite the warnings, was too comfortable and didn’t think this was ever a possibility.

I’m hurt and scared and lost. She was the breadwinner, she provided my health insurance through the military, I’m still in school and trying to break into #infosec. We’ve been together for 15 years and married for 10. Shes all I know.

My main focus is ensuring I can be near my kids. We’ve agreed that being parents and giving our kids the best life possible is our number one priority.

That being said, I need to get myself into a better situation. If anyone has any leads on #remote, #entrylevel Infosec jobs or tech jobs in general, please let me know.

About a year out from finishing my degree with WGU; I’m A+, Net+, and Sec+ certified, Project+ hopefully by the end of the month. I’ve been working as a computer tech for the last 8 months.

Please let me know if you know of any opportunities. 💚

So I just posted a number of #entrylevel #infosecjobs. My point isn't that I don't think people can search these out themselves.

Instead, I'm trying to highlight how jobs where the candidate pool will likely be entry level folks but the job description is poorly worded such that many will self-exclude.

Be brave, fuck the requirements section. If it sounds like a job you think you can do:

1. Tailor your resume. Don't lie but definitely highlight the correct relevant experience, skills, and/or knowledge you have.

2. Think about it like an elevator pitch. You have mere moments and few words to tell them why they NEED to hire you.

3. If you need someone to kick your #ImposterSyndrome in the ass, let me know.
