Contemplating replacing Windows 11 on my now 2 year old Dell Inspiron laptop.
I had Ubuntu on my previous laptop but got sick of it being, well, Ubuntu. Tried it yesterday and the horrible UI ickiness came flooding back.
It seems like Mint is the distro de jour.
Anyone running Mint on a newish Dell laptop?
Does the sexy modern stuff like fingerprint login and touchscreen work?
Does dual boot deal with bitlocker?
Is Mint as great as the blog posts claim?
I lied. I never have used Arch. Settled on Fedora for Computer the Elder, which'll run Tor & BOINC 100%. Good to distrohop occasionally. Sticking with Mint on main.
E a saga da mudança de paradigmas continua. Já dei adeus ao Windows, Photoshop, Lightroom e X (Twitter). Pra substituí-los dei as boas vindas ao Linux (estou usando Ubuntu no desktop e Mint no notebook), Gimp, Darktable e Mastodon.
No processo de adeus o Instagram q vai dar lugar ao Pixelfed (já em uso).
Hj comecei mais uma mudança, o adeus ao Coreldraw q será substituído pelo Inkscape.
Viva a vida open source.

Reinstalled #MintLinux “Vera” from DVD, so #Debian (and any #ArchLinux adventures) are on hold for the duration.
I picked up an old laptop a few weeks ago with a corrupt Windows install on it. I've decided to try Linux again.
#today I downloaded the @linuxmint ISO and ran through the verify process. I went off to burn the DVD, then I remembered my desktop has no DVD burner 
I've just brought a burner from ebay for £5.99. Hopefully getting it by Tuesday.

My Linux laptop has been running #LinuxMint for years and I have no complaints.
My other Linux laptop runs #KaliLinux.
I'm too old to get excited about #Arch. Is it anything like #GentooLinux?

re @dashaun ~10 years ago. The owner of the guest house I was staying was complaining about their slow computer, which was then running windows. I lent them a bootable flash drive running #MintLinux, and they were amazed how fast it ran.
Before I left, they decided to ditch Windows for Linux. When I visited again after a few years, they were still running Mint on the same computer.
