@mastobikes I wonder what Nextie have been cooking as they have mentions of Ti-Fi Polymer Spokes on their site, too. Not sure whether they hint at GooSynn w/o mentioning their brand name or whether that's a fourth independent spoke.

These are a) super interesting fibre spokes. the first you can use with any hub (which is fit for use with carbon spokes) and any rim! Sweet!
And b) those rims are actually cool, too. Propper wide for wide allroad and gravel tires! Kudos to Goosynn!
I've painted the shed and the fence this morning, planted a few veg, and now it's time to build a new wheel for my two-wheeled recumbent.
The freehub in the existing wheel has decided to be "free" more often than it should be. Sometimes it works just fine, and other times when I pedal the pedals just spin without doing anything. I'll probably take the hub apart and see if it's salvagable, but first I'll get the new wheel in use.
It's an old bike, about 27 years old now, but it suits me. It's comfortable, nice to ride, and I'm used to it. This is the fourth time I've rebuilt the rear wheel. The other occasions were twice due to wearing down the rim too much when braking, once when the original hub failed, and once when someone in the UK drove into me on my commute to work and destroyed the wheel (luckily I wasn't hurt on that particular occasion).

I have a fair number of these perfectly good and reasonably inexpensive rims in stock should any of you want one:

3rd option for "textile" spokes.
Nextie Polymer Fiber Ti-Fi Rope Spokes. Introduced last month.
They look more like pi rope then like Berd spokes . But unlike both they appear to be fully "compatible" with any normal rim and any normal straight pull hub as far as I gather with the current info: https://www.nextie.com/ti-fi-rope-spokes
Now someone does. Me. I found a page doing just that. And lo and behold, it's from 3 days ago. so finally someone compared and compiled the pros and cons of Berd Spokes vs Pi-Rope:
https://www.collaretacycling.com/s/stories/berd-spokes-pirope-spokes-comparison
Anybody knows a source comparing Berd Spokes Wheels with Pi-Rope Wheels pros and cons? Like hooked flanges vs. holes for Berd, screw in for Pi-Rope, Dyneema (Creep) vs. Vectran, nipple fastening solution, repairability etc.? Like - if you consider a fiber spoke wheel - which tech is superior and/or simply currently offers a potentially nicer / faster / more durable (bikepacking) wheel set?

I'm going to build my own wheels!
No idea were to start from but I bet there is a book on the subject out there..
Wheel build finished and on the bike. The build itself wasn't too tricky, but the new rim is a bit thicker than the old one, so a nightmare to get the tyre onto. Broke two tyre levers in the process :-( #cycling #wheelbuilding
First step towards remedying why things have been quiet around here of late #cycling #wheelbuilding
