Scientists collect unique sea creatures during voyage to East Antarctica abc.net.au/news/2025-04-03/nuy

"The RSV #Nuyina is partway through a 60-day voyage to the edge of #Antarctica — it's first mission dedicated solely to marine science... research teams are analysing some of the unique #biodiversity found in the #SouthernOcean. These include #SeaSpiders as big as your hand, #SeaStars that grow to the size of a dinner plate and #octopus species endemic to the region... some could be new to science"

As well as the obvious, ie. rise in sea level affecting human habitation of landmass soon underwater probably by the end of this century, other inhabitants of our planet have fewer choices of where to live
Modelling suggesting that if we continue on a high greenhouse gas emission trajectory, more than 90 percent of emperor penguin colonies will be all but extinct by the end of the century.

The krill industry may operate at the edge of the world, but the demand is global, and the consequences are devastating. The clock is ticking, and these animals need our help NOW.

Sea Shepherd is back in #Antarctica to gather critical evidence and fight for protection, but we can’t do it without you.

🛑 Demand action: Use the Krill Toolkit to get retailers to stop selling krill-based products. (Link in bio)
