Just finished The City & The City by China Miéville. Wow! It's been a while since I read a book that I enjoyed this much. The speculative fiction aspect of it had just the right balance of interesting philosophy and unexplained mystery. I can imagine it not being a book for just anyone, but reading has been generally less and less enjoyable for me lately, and this strange book fit me just right.

Funny to read Neal Stephenson's "Polostan" after recently reading China Miéville's "October".
Picked up 2nd hand this spectacularly covered collection of short stories by high profile authors, edited by #MichaelChabon . The selection is intended to explore the boundary of literary fiction and genre fiction (in practice, largely horror). Despite the big names it's mostly pretty minor work. #ChinaMiéville 's story of feral streets moving through London (which I've read before in a Miéville collection) is the strongest story. #Bookstodon @bookstodon

I was very excited to read 'The Book of elsewhere' by Keanu Reeves and China Miéville, having waited a long time for some new fiction from Miéville. I was not disappointed. I found Reeves's comic, of which this is an adaptation, extremely mid, but this novel is brilliant.

Hearing about China Miéville's new novel with Keanu everywhere. Before I read that dessert confection, I figure I should read some meat. I mean, I've read most of Miéville's fiction, maybe I should read some of his non-fiction, too. So, I'm reading, "October: The Story of the Russian Revolution". Plus, I know very little about the Russian Revolution. Could be informative/useful in the next few years.
Keanu Reeves has cowritten a novel and according to LitHub, it's quite good. He worked with speculative fiction writer China Miéville on "The Book of Elsewhere," which is set in Miéville's "BRZRKR" world, and is violent and action-heavy, with a dose of philosophy. "On the celebrity-novel scale, 'The Book of Elsewhere' stands well above pulpy cash-grabs like the Clintons’ co-written thrillers (to say nothing of the likes of Jake Tapper and James Comey) and it makes a better case for itself than the often-mediocre-at-best 'sure why not?' novels and stories from prestige actors like Ethan Hawke and Tom Hanks," writes Drew Broussard.
