This evening's viewing distraction: a revisit to Coppola's remarkable Apocalypse Now.
That opening alone is still an amazing bit of cinema, the jungle view erupting into flame as the Doors play, the helicopter sounds seguing into a roof fan in a hotel... Genius.
Absolutely loved Grace Kelly's performance as Lisa - such elegance and determination. The way Hitchcock builds suspense in that confined flat space is pure genius. Who knew a courtyard view could be so thrilling?
Coming tomorrow: Poll for our next #MovieClub pick! Stay tuned to vote for our next classic to discuss.
Post-work movie outting with some chums from the bookshop to see the 25th anniversary screening of the achingly beautiful Crouching Tiger , Hidden Dragon
Hi there! Finally made the leap to Mastodon! I'm a cruise line concierge who spends my days plotting amazing port adventures for guests (dream job, right?) and my evenings either tangled up in knitting projects or curled up with my pups watching old Bette Davis films.

"Broadsword calling Danny Boy"
This evening's viewing distraction: going old school with Where Eagles Dare. Haven't watched this in years, but cropped up on BBC iPlayer, so an evening with Richard Burton, Clint Eastwood and not forgetting an appearance by Hammer Queen, Ingrid Pitt (who I once had the pleasure of hosting for a book launch) too.
This evening's viewing distraction, a #Christmas classic, the original Die Hard.
Opening is so peculiar to modern eyes; he carries a gun on the plane, lights up a ciggie inside the airport. The past is a different country...
I started enjoying Film Noir movies, here is a collection of over 300 of them;

Putting on the Ritz!
Meeting chums for an anniversary screening of the fabulous Young Frankenstein by Mel Brooks.
So much better seeing it in a cinema with an audience. First watched this with my dad, way back in the Long Ago, on Betamax from the video rental place.
Day off tomorrow and planning to go catch the new Beetlejuice film, so this evening's viewing distraction is the original. Still fabulous.
Popped into the work local for last orders, and they're having a Hitchcock Night on the telly
Tonight: PSYCHO (1960)
