Bhante Subharo :xmpp:<p>For my personal calendar, I have <a href="https://c.im/tags/Radicale" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Radicale</span></a> 3.4.1 installed on a <a href="https://c.im/tags/Debian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Debian</span></a> VPS. It works great, accessing it from <a href="https://c.im/tags/Thunderbird" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Thunderbird</span></a>, or the "Fossify Calendar" (from <a href="https://c.im/tags/FDroid" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FDroid</span></a>) in <a href="https://c.im/tags/Android" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Android</span></a>. I can read and write events from both clients.</p><p>I was gifted an iPad, and the default Calendar app lets me have read-only access (only!) to Radicale. When it comes to writing events, that lofty privilege is reserved for iCloud Calendars only, not those riff-raff Calendars that use CalDAV.</p><p>Edit: I eventually sorted it out.</p><p>I opened a Github "Discussion" thread (for Radicale) on this:<br><a href="https://github.com/Kozea/Radicale/discussions/1755" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">github.com/Kozea/Radicale/disc</span><span class="invisible">ussions/1755</span></a> </p><p>I guess the moral of this story is: Thunderbird, and Fossify Calendar, thanks for being sane! Also at around 285€ (<a href="https://commerce.jolla.com/products/jolla-community-phone" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">commerce.jolla.com/products/jo</span><span class="invisible">lla-community-phone</span></a>) it isn't too expensive, so one can simply try it out.</p><p>There are a few limitations though:</p><p>* I am really missing biometric unlocking<br>* There is no predictive text input, so typing could be more comfy<br>* The UX experience sometimes feels strange (but no no-gos for me)<br>* It is not a snappy and fast device<br>* Audio quality is so-so<br>* GPS really needs a GPS signal, so no WIFI-based location</p><p>What is great:</p><p>* It is a real <a href="https://mastodon.africa/tags/Linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Linux</span></a>, so it has a <a href="https://mastodon.africa/tags/terminal" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>terminal</span></a>, <a href="https://mastodon.africa/tags/sshd" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>sshd</span></a>, you can e.g. use the <a href="https://mastodon.africa/tags/Nix" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Nix</span></a> package manager etc.<br>* Android apps are running in a container<br>* You can have different users to limit data access</p><p>Unfortunately there are nearly no high-quality native apps so far and the built-in ones are very basic (e.g. email).</p><p>But: The <a href="https://mastodon.africa/tags/Android" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Android</span></a> compatibility layer is very good, the system comes with <a href="https://mastodon.africa/tags/Fdroid" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Fdroid</span></a> and <a href="https://mastodon.africa/tags/AuroraStore" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AuroraStore</span></a> (<a href="https://mastodon.africa/tags/Google" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Google</span></a> store front-end) pre-installed, so you can easily install practically all official Android apps.</p><p>Most apps work very well, some (especially banking) apps do not though as they complain that the system is rooted, so YMMV regarding the apps you need.</p><p>In general I am really happy with this system. </p><p>And: All the de-ggoglefied Android phones like the <a href="https://mastodon.africa/tags/Volla" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Volla</span></a> will always still remain just that: A more limited Android. @vort3 @ravi Basically you only need to tell your contacts 'Install #Prav', they will know the rest of the drill from their #WhatsApp experience to start chatting with you. Now try the same with #Conversations. They will hestate to pay to install Conversations. Either you have to convince them it is worth the money or explain about #Fdroid. Try this experiment with 10 of your friends after you setup Prav account. Please share your experience.

The huge version of #Fedilab (3.31.1) was compiled by #FDroid. We are sorry for that, we thought to have made everything to avoid that (3.31.1 exists in a smaller release).
This important difference in size is due to the use of a library that allows to locally detect the language used in a message. We needed it for MinT translator that doesn't support auto detection.
We immediately removed this lib and we used the language attached to a message (though it is not perfect)

Really sorry for that
