There was a distinct Indiana Jones vibe to today’s hike up to Mount Misen, in the humid and steep forest of Miyajima Island.
This too is why I came to Japan

If you're in Miyajima & you want to play the fun game of "find the restaurant", this is the oyster restaurant we went to.
It's very small & family run. They were incredibly gracious, found us seats & served us quickly - straight from the tiny kitchen.
Both the "Anago Donburi" & "Curry & Fried Oysters" were really good.
Miyajima Japan has an amazing walkway with over 100 Japanese restaurants & eateries, featuring Anago (Conger eel), oysters, shrimp, crab & other made-to-order food.
Or if you were in the mood, there were an equal number of drink & dessert shops that served local beverages, brews, coffees, teas & soft drinks.
Every kitchen was jam packed & the smell of the lunches that permeated the area was so good.
(I also took a picture of the "gaijin Starbucks line of shame". #smh)
