Picture getting caught doing 64kph in a 50kph area. Then imagine being so stubborn you'd fight an $80 speeding ticket all the way to the Supreme Court, and lose most of the way.

Aucklander Peter Prescott racked up $34,000 in legal fees and was declared bankrupt when he couldn’t pay them.

The lessons? Don't speed in 50kph zones and don't pursue a hopeless case through the courts. That's only for wealthy folk.

Mmm. It’s autumn time in Ōtautahi-Christchurch, NZ, and that means the feijoas are back! I just got back from visiting my sister and return with a big bag of fruit from her two feijoa bushes. It looks like it’s going a be another good feijoa year in the city. #nz #fruit #feijoas

I'm at Lake Hāwea this week helping teach a field trip for our Masters level Conservation Biology course at #LincolnUniversityNZ. The surprise find so far has been the lizard team's discovery of redback spiders on the university's Mount Grand high country station.

These are Australian venomous spiders related to black widows and NZ's katipō. Redbacks have been established around Cromwell and Alexandra and are spreading.

This "assault" on Shane Jones' wife Dot sounds almost manufactured.

Yes, a man yelled abuse at Shane Jones. Who wouldn't, given the chance. Dot claims she "went to place her hand between the two and told the man to go away." Yeah, right. 'Go away, man!'

But the next piece is probably more accurate.

“His nose hit my palm and he said I assaulted him and he wanted my name.”

“His nose hit my palm..."

The security footage will be revealing.
