After reading @mwichary’s fantastic deep dive into the Gorton font, I had to look up the font used on the typewriter I used to learn to touch type: the #Olivetti Lettera 32. I could have sworn that typewriter used the Gorton font but NOPE. I don’t actually know what font this is. That Q with the curly tail is super distinctive!
@prahou @maddiefuzz can I play too?
(restrictions applies as the Spanish keyboard layout doesn't have the # nor the @ symbols )

«company CEO Margherita Della Valle said the sale would “enable #Vodafone to focus its resources in markets with sustainable structures and sufficient local scale.”»
E in Europa?
I just stumbled across this video exploring the #LostPlace of the former #olivetti PC factory near Ivrea https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7XEa7tC7xU #retrocomputing
I'm looking for advice on the best way to install Python on a new MacBook Pro
On my Dell XPS 13 with Ubuntu 24.04 the time to install Python and start programming is literally 0 seconds, since it is pre-installed
I would like to avoid bloatware (eg: Xcode or similar), Docker (at least for now) or GUI, unless absolutely necessary to create a virtualenv in the terminal and start programming with Django (if it's possible)
Less is more
Well, I finally got around to figuring out what size barrel connector this Olivetti M15 takes for the DC input (itʻs 6.3mmx3mm), and gave it some power after looking closely at all of the capacitors, etc… and... the lights came on. it made a sound and then... SMOKE. So time to take this guy apart again.
This Olivetti M15 Laptop Computer on ShopGoodwill looks to be in a bit of rough shape, but might go for a good price to someone that wants to do some work. It's currently priced at $14.99 and the auction ends tomorrow.
Have you ever used a manual typewriter? What about an electric one, like this beautiful Olivetti ET121?
For anyone curious, the code is here, including a neat screenshot #emacs #olivetti

#12 - Olivetti Identities. Spaces and Languages 1933–1983
A must have to go deeper in one of the most innovative company of the last century.
Made by the Swiss school ECAL and the Università degli Studi di Ferrara, this book "analyzed the corporate identity journey of Olivetti from the establishment of the Olivetti advertising office in 1933 to the opening of the permanent Olivetti pavilion at the Hanover Fair in 1983".
