"The Arizona Two Spirit Powwow returned to #PhoenixArizona on Saturday, February 22, to spotlight Indigenous #LGBTQ+ and two-spirit people for a day of cultural celebration and community.

"Hosted at South Mountain Community College, the event welcomed dancers, drum groups and attendees from across the region. More than just a traditional gathering, the powwow allowed two-spirit individuals to celebrate their identities and honor their place in Indigenous culture.

“'This (powwow) is a perfect example of a #SafeSpace for people to come and dance in whatever category they want to dance in, dress the way that they feel good about themselves, love who they want to love, and they are safe here. This tells the community we are here, we are here for you,' Sheila Lopez said.

"Lopez is the founder of Arizona’s first Two Spirit Powwow and the first Native chapter of #PFLAG, which bills itself as the country’s largest advocacy organization that supports LGBTQ+ individuals and their families.

"President Donald Trump’s recent executive actions have left #transgender and two-spirit communities uncertain about their rights and recognition going forward.

"'It is super important right now with the administration, what they’re doing to pretty much wipe away trans people. It’s super critical right now for us to continue to show up in the community, to say we’re here, we’re not going anywhere and you can’t erase us, period,' Lopez said."

So this shit #AntiTrans bill passed the #Georgia Senate.

We have ~90 days to spread the word that any minor in GA that might need HRT to treat gender dysphoria needs a prescription ASAP. You don't have to start taking it, but getting it now grandfather's you in and gives the option.

The Senate took on a controversial topic and passed a bill to severely restrict gender affirming care for transgender youth. SB 140 would prohibit doctors from prescribing hormone therapy or performing gender-affirming surgeries on transgender people under the age of 18. The bill's sponsor, Sen. Carden Summers (R - Cordele) said it prevents children from making a potentially irreversible decision. Democrats opposed the bill, saying the decision to pursue medical treatments is highly individual among transgender teenagers. Transgender teenagers are at a higher risk for suicide than their cisgender peers. "The problem I have with this bill is that it only addresses what it won't do for our children. Instead, I think we need to focus on what we can do for our kids," Sen. Sally Harrell (D - Atlanta) said. "We cannot take away treatment from these kids without having something in place, and we have nothing in place." Harrell shared her own experience raising a transgender son. SB 140 passed the Senate 33 to 23.

@taedryn well no,. However I really have nothing, but good to say about #PFLAG it started as a support group for parents of gay people, but it's grown to be a great general support group. There's chapters everywhere.

The other organization I know of is a fantastic group here in Phoenix called one n ten. I've never been since I'm not youth adjacent. They're a support group for LGBT teens, especially ones with homophobic parents
