Among updates last night to Winter Bike Buzz are photos of people we met on the coastal trail February 16: Wyatt, Adalina, Chris, and more. bikemonterey.org/bike-buzz-win

Pictured here is Wyatt, an employee of California State Parks, Monterey. Wyatt rides a Class 2 e-bike and is a great role model for sharing the trail courteously and safely with other people who bike, walk, skate, and scoot.

🎂Happy birthday to Liz, biking 30 miles to celebrate their 30th birthday today! 3️⃣0️⃣🎉🎈Liz and their friend Lizzy had biked from Marina, California to another #Monterey Peninsula city, #Pacific Grove, when we met them while we were walking at Asilomar State Beach. We🎵sang Liz a favorite birthday song traditional in many #Waldorf schools.

When you pause to chat with people who bike🚲, you see and learn things you miss when someone is in a car.🚙 For starters, we learned that this gentleman–who took off his sunglasses😎 for our conversation–has beautiful blue eyes. 💙We also learned that he happens to be Christian and attends Calvary Chapel Monterey. He showed genuine ✝️Christian humility–and his name happens to be Justin Humble! Thank you to Justin for being a good steward of the earth 🌎by reducing carbon emissions every time he bikes🚴‍♂️ for transportation! BTW, we were able to give him a heads up about a beautiful, peaceful rest stop for people out biking or walking nearby – the Jay Bartow Memorial Garden at First Presbyterian Church, 501 Eldorado, Monterey. Garden details in new post: bikemonterey.org/people-who-bi

"My mom didn’t live in a bubble; she had not escaped subliminal toxic messaging. It was the #bicycling, with its demands for physical vitality, the uncertainty of every ride, the grit on the uphill, the inherent wheeeeee aspect of fun on the downhill — all powerful proof of that messaging’s mendacity."
