I'm devoting this week's issue of #TheFutureIsFederated to Substack alternatives – showcasing how several independent journalists and media organizations who speak truth to power (like Cadwalladr) have created thriving newsletter businesses outside the Substack bubble.

Routine reminder that Substack is funded by A16Z and actively profits from far-right content, hate speech and misinformation.

Hello Fedi friends! This is a routine reminder that I've just migrated my Ghost blog to a self-hosted instance.

If you follow #TheFutureIsFederated via RSS, please update the feed's URL:

news.elenarossini.com/rss/

And if you had bookmarked any of my old posts, they'll still work if you refresh the page... or else just swap "blog" with "news" in the address bar.

This is my proudest moment in #MySoCalledSudoLife as I installed everything with commands. I've learned so much these past 4 months!

Good morning Fedi friends!

I just added a new link to my Mastodon profile: @elena 🤗

How many #ActivityPub profiles do I have now? I don't want to know 😆

Off I go continue writing about #PeerTube for #TheFutureIsFederated (part 2, showing what it's like to use the software from the POV of a creator). I look forward to doing some tests and seeing what it's like to embed PeerTube videos on my website. Article coming tomorrow.

Wishing you all a lovely day!

Good morning Fedi friends & (belated) happy spring!

I feel bad I won't have a new post for #TheFutureIsFederated this week. I had been meaning to write a part 2 about PeerTube after extensive use.

See, I have a pit in my stomach & feel like I'm a bit of a traitor if (for the first time) I don't have enthusiastic things to say about a Fediverse project.

PeerTube is FANTASTIC on paper, it truly is. It's just that I'm struggling a little with real world use - and thus with writing about it 🥲

Thank you for all your great feedback to my article about #PeerTube. I plan to use it extensively for the next 2 weeks to write a follow-up post... and bring you interviews with PeerTube creators.

If you have any tips about how to improve the experience on mobile, I'm all ears! (Aside from using it in my mobile browser, that is).
