After standout performances in "The White Lotus," "Fallout" and "The Righteous Gemstones," Walton Goggins is an overnight success (never mind that he's been acting for 30 years). GQ talked to him about his graduation from cult-actor "hey it's that guy" status to leading man, his difficult start in life, and a strange full-circle moment he experienced in Thailand. “When I say my life is improbable, there is no bookie in f**king Vegas that would take this bet—[that I] would ever, ever, ever have the life that I’ve led,” Goggins says. “And I don’t take it for granted, man. If my life ends tomorrow, don’t weep for me, man, because God, whoever she is, has always been looking out for me."

GQ · Walton Goggins’s Wild Ride to StardomBy Alex Pappademas

Ouch, two fails back to back.

I tried to get one of my best friend, and a week later (this evening), my wife, into White Lotus and neither liked it. I tried to explain that it was a slow burn (it's true that not much happens in the first episode) but they were not convinced.
😞
Maybe I can convert one of you?

"The White Lotus" season 3 finale aired last night. Feelings in the Flipboard editorial team varied from "it was fine" to "it was disappointing," with a dash of "I don't watch it because if I wanted to see rich people doing terrible things I would simply turn on the news." Here's @THR's spoiler-free oral history of the making of the show, featuring most of the cast and creator Mike White. Tell us in the comments what you thought of the season and final episode, and any suggestions you have for season 4.

I still think the first season of The White Lotus was the most thematically solid, with well-written characters highlighting the contrast in privilege.

Since the second season, the show has drifted into guilty pleasure territory. That season, to me, was about the use of sexuality in power plays, while the most recent one explored the idea of leaning into your fate, no matter how grim. I would still recommend the show for its meditative style and, at times, scandalous storylines. #TheWhiteLotus
