Calling all sewists. Back me up or shoot me down 😂

Background:
Someone gave me a little black dress for my daughter. Sheath style, no zipper, long sleeve, knee length and approximately 1 size too big. The material is a linen/poly blend. Daughter has asked me to help her alter the dress from a sheath to a more fitted shape. I have met up with her to test the shaping out etc and to do some measuring. I really don't want to be removing sleeves, unpicking etc..

Solution:
I propose to sew 2 front double darts and 2 back double darts for shaping. I think this will eliminate the need for additional darts at the side bust.

Question: Should this be possible? Can this be the best option?
