My nine-year-old daughter and I have been playing around with our Pico-8++ project that I'm calling Nano-9. Tonight I tried using it as a library to see what it looks like with an old TV post processing effect, something you can't do with Pico-8.

Water texture animations - a little wonky, but so am I
applied the texture animations for water too
the river serves as a big natural conveyor
Another try of a procedural generated #engine sound, this time trying to catch an actual 'combustion' sound.
I think I'll split the project into: engine sound lab (with some GUI around it)
the game (which uses sounds of the lab)
Today I added a simple inventory system to my game, and the ability to pick up items!
While the “art” is still mostly placeholders, I have enjoyed building the technical foundations so far!
Items cruising like an AE86 on a downhill run.
added conveyor tiles: transporting items
..which are stored in adjacent containers
extended the fragment shader to animate textures
..and the GPU pipeline accordingly, to pass the info
Just toss it in: as casual as a Nichijou moment
added item containers
..filled by throwing items at them
added possibility to rotate in place
..which makes it easier to aim the throw
I've made some improvements to my #bevyengine game!
Movement is now interpolated
Camera now follows your character
Objects in the game can now be removed
Shape your space: let your themes embrace. *dabs ironically*
added color theming support (experimental)
(re-)added sidebars
..and used one to choose preset themes
Hold on tight! The UI is taking you for a spin
reworked the item bar
added item selection by cycling though collected items
added item count UI for the selected item
(re-)added throwing items
hey hey, watch the interview the local #PBS station did of me and the game I'm making about Exit 3A in Charlotte using the #bevyengine
These boulders are like free Wi-Fi — always dropping.
some boulders now have inner cores with more loot
Now I get why it's called bevy
added birds, that occasionally fly by
Feline fine? Fluffy critters are ready to join the fun!
blobby cats now chill around the world
Did some refactoring today
un-voxeled the boulders
added some cute sfx
changed the big wavy wobble a bit

(I may do more on YouTube sometime this year)
Just a blob, channeling its inner kitsune
added a small companion
..which is very lightweight
