Happy #LetterboxdFriday !

As of fifteen days ago, I'd only seen one Miyazaki film. As of this evening, I've seen them all. I'm gonna rewatch The Boy and the Heron tomorrow, then I'll post my ranking for those interested.

Warfare is more of an experience than a movie. It's been challenging to approach as a traditional film, because in many ways, it's just not. I didn't even want to give it a star rating, but felt obligated.

I highly recommend it. Just know it's INCREDIBLY upsetting.

EASY A - Solidly enjoyable American high school comedy adaptation of The Scarlet Letter. But Clueless remains the benchmark for this subgenre

DR WHO & THE DALEKS - There is a parallel universe out there somewhere in which Peter Cushing played the actual, real Doctor. And Christopher Lee was The Master

EVENING BREEZES - Made in 1980, but in a new wave style of circa 1965. A gay girl is madly in love with her straight friend. Captures the feeling of unrequited love really well, with lots of wandering the streets, lying on the floor and looking up whimsically at buildings. Bleak though, which - let's face it - most crushes are not

POLITE SOCIETY - On the one hand you could argue it wears its Edgar Wright influences too much on its sleeve. On the other hand, why wouldn't British comedy action films in the 2020s be influenced by Edgar Wright? Also assisted by a charming central performance from Priya Kansara. We should see her more. Good fun
