What the photos do not capture is how windy it was...sudden gusts threatened to carry the sweets away, and whisking matcha with a tree trunk as wind break was not the most elegant of experiences
“It’s not to say that if you’re not of the culture, you can’t have a great matcha product or be a part of the matcha conversation,” Park says in her TikTok video. “But it’s about the intention and respect. How far are you willing to go to make sure you understand, respect, and appreciate the culture, versus just appropriating it?”
Gameboy Matcha – A fun subject, and delicious to boot.
SPRINGTIME SCHEDULE
The chaos of blossom season is almost upon us, so I thought I'd share some information for guests who have already booked, or are thinking of booking tea ceremony during the busiest time of the year in Kyōto.
It was a little wet for an outdoor tea ceremony, but blossoms are so fleeting you have to enjoy them while you can.
On a grey day the pink blossoms really sing

National Foundation day was established in 1966, repackaging 'Kigensetsu' for a post war Japan.
Japan's new constitution was deliberately approved on February 11th (1946), once again using this symbolic date as a new start.
A few days in the year are dedicated to tea...
"Green Tea Day" (May 1st/2nd - est.1990)- 88th day of spring, first tea harvesting.
"Mugicha Day" (June 1st - est.1986)- beginning of the barley harvest.
"Genmaicha Day" (November 1st)- start of rice trading year (米穀年度).
February 6th was chosen for "Matcha Day" as the date is a play on words...
When the numbers (February) and
(6th) are put together they can be pronounced as 'Furo' (風炉).
Furo is portable stove used for tea ceremonies during the summer (from May-October).
February 6th is Matcha Day! (抹茶の日)
To celebrate the 120th anniversary of matcha production in Nishio (西尾市), Aichi Prefecture, the Nishio Tea Trade Association first established "Matcha Day" in 1992.
Day 24: Washimine Ceremonial Matcha Tea
This was a very deep, rich matcha, with some hints of fruitiness in the aroma but it hits you with quite a bitter first impression, followed by a smooth, sweet finish.
Day 23: Uji Tea Chanoka Silver
Sweet, fruity and really rich. A delightful matcha
