Finished my first weaving project using totally handspun!
The pattern ended up more weft-dominant than I was hoping - probably should have used a closer sett - but still quite happy!
Due to the linear nature of time, it is Wednesday again and due to What I Do Do on Wednesdays, it is #WIPWednesday again.
almost halfway through spinning this rainbow gradient - four bobbins full, six to go!
I'm not plying these, since I'm planning to use them for three-color crackle. it's easier to manage the color transitions that way.
Ok, I'm trying to figure out how to direct warp my RHL with a "crammed" pattern (i.e., two strands through each slot and hole). Weirdly I can't find any videos on this?
It seems like I could just pull a loop through each slot and hole and then cut and tie on. OR I could pull two loops through each slot, cut, and sley by pulling two ends through the hole.
Am I missing something? Fellow weavers, what's our bat-signal to call for help? :)
Current status: twisting fringe (not a euphemism)

Another "commission", this one in blues.

As I’m doing simple fringe for the first time on this scarf, I see why hem stitching is so lovely. This is gonna be mostly done once I finish these overhand knots, and the hem is really solid without any additional work. Just will need to trim the fringe, wash the fabric (pray some of it shrinks as it’s a weeeeee bit skeezy in some spots) and trim the joins. But no hemming.
Also I hope it shrinks because right now it’s kinda more “small blanket sized” on me than “shawl sized”. #weaving
Finally hem stitching the end in prep for cutting off, I’ve been avoiding this for over a month because videos didn’t make sense to me. Thanks to the Swiss Cows search engine for finding me a fucking WRITTEN and clear tutorial for how to do it! #RigidHeddle #weaving
Hey Mastodon! Is there a mobile app that will allow me to follow hashtags? I use Toot right now but neither that nor checking on the web will let me set a bookmark or add hashtags to a list or just something that I can click everyday day to check #weaving #naturaldyes #spinning #kundonta etc. Tips?
It has been a crazy month so it is wonderful getting a chance to sit behind my loom again #weaving #handmade #handweaving #vævning
Rigid Heddle Weavers - have you woven a piece based on Fibonacci numbers? I'm trying to get my head around the fact that you can't get a sequence of even numbers, so when warping how do you account for uneven thread numbers? Am I thinking too hard about this?
from a profile draft, I can substitute all kinds of blocks and structures, creating a stable and functional cloth with the same overall design
these three are Crackle (4 shafts), Huck Lace (6 shafts), and Double Two-Tie twill (10 shafts)
doing another threading exercise - this is BGH's "Jitterbug" overshot threading but done as a profile draft
On wood panels, Tia Keobounpheng weaves colorful threads to create precise geometries in vibrating color.
