CAF, the company that made the vehicles for the trams of Luxembourg and Liège, the latest boa metro of Brussels, and is the leading contender for a €3 billion contract with SNCB/NMBS is also a #BDS target.
Why?
It is operating and extending light rail lines connecting West Jerusalem with illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories!

InstagramBDS Movement on Instagram: "Belgium’s National Railway Company announced CAF, a BDS priority target, as the leading contender for a €3 billion contract. CAF is a Basque company operating in Israel’s illegal colonial settlements in the occupied Palestinian territory through its expansion of the Jerusalem Light Rail (JLR) in violation of international law. As Israel escalates its genocide against 2.3M Palestinians in Gaza, shattering the recent already fragile ceasefire, CAF must be held accountable for its persistent complicity in Israel’s war crimes."1,722 likes, 69 comments - bds.movement on March 24, 2025: "Belgium’s National Railway Company announced CAF, a BDS priority target, as the leading contender for a €3 billion contract.

@claesdevreese On a related note:

Hon. @Paulatics (who, as far as I've seen, is still our only member of government on Mastodon?), would you please recommend Marc Miller and Bill Blair offer refuge and employment to former US defence personnel wrongfully fired for their identity in protected categories? And offer their families a safe place here too? It would help us improve #CAF recruitment numbers.

I doubt anyone in #Canada whose opinion has any bearing on the matter is ignorant enough to believe being trans (or queer, or Black, or a woman) adversely effects the ability to perform the duties of a member of a modern military.

Likewise, for intelligence community members.

@cazabon Meanwhile, we should be welcoming military guests from democratic #EU and #Commonwealth allies for joint training exercises in #Canada, while increasing #CAF partnership and training in their countries as well.

And then there's procurement: we and our fellow democracies (so, not the US, for now) should be cooperating on R&D, and sourcing more aircraft and materiel from each other. Having any single country hold a majority of either side of any market sector was always an error anyway.
