Got back into this after recommending "Oil of Every Pearl’s Un-Insides" to a friend. What an outstanding, super unique record! Rest in peace, Sophie...

@michaelrperry
That sounds marvellous! Never heard of that opera. Hope you get to go

Her career was so long I keep hearing about pieces and whole eras I was unaware of

This book about her years in San Diego totally surprised me (I was there in jr high school and it might have changed my life’s direction if I’d known)

JESSICA EKOMANE INVITES
Antonia Majaca

At KW Institute for Contemporary Art Berlin

“As part of Jessica Ekomane’s exhibition “Antechamber”, KW and Berlin Artistic Research Programme present a special late-evening event featuring a conversation and three concerts. Transforming Ekomane’s sound installation in KW’s attic into a space for communal experiences, the program expands on the themes embedded in her work—framing sound as a social practice through the act of gathering and listening together.

The night begins with a conversation between Ekomane and critical theorist Antonia Majaca, exploring the politics of rhythm, alternative temporalities, and the transformative potential of sound. Following the conversation, the evening brings together Ekomane’s peers for three consecutive performances that relate to one another, exploring the concert format as a medium that allows for alternative sonic treatments of time and space.”
