This is weird. 🤔

I just finished watching Episode 5 of Season 3 of #Reacher on #PrimeVideo &, when it was over, it immediately switched to Episode 1 of Season 1 of #AppleTV's show #Severance.

I don't subscribe to Apple TV & have no idea how or why this happened

I watched the episode for a bit before looking up info about the show & deciding that I wasn't interested in watching any more of it and when I switched back to my Prime Video home screen, there was absolutely no evidence that it was ever shown to or seen by me.

However, it did show up in my #Amazon #Firestick home screen as show to continue watching. So, I may take a look at it again later.

There's no way to select a different episode to watch, so this just may be a teaser to get me to subscribe to Apple TV ro watch more of the show.

Like I said, "weird!" 🤷

OK I have a question for folks that use the #FireStick
I got a text from a friend who isn't tech savy asking if I've ever seen anything like this. He'll be watching something YouTube on his TV via the Firestick and this woman will show up on his screen for 5 minutes sitting knitting locking everything up then she's gone.
Ideas? Anyone know what's going on?

I've got two Amazon #FireStick units and a gen 1 #Chromecast dongle in a drawer. They are three SoC devices I'd love to repurpose but the manufacturers have locked them up so when they get replaced by newer models with extra features they become landfill!

So frustrating, I'd love to make one a simple command line computer so my 4 year old could type stories on an immutable system. I'd host my #GeminiProtocol capsule on another and free up the Raspberry Pi for other projects. Even then I'd still have one free for tinkering with....

#permacomputing needs manufacturers to open systems at the end of life to encourage communities to #repurpose and #reuse them because guess what they'll make loyal customers in a thriving community that way.

We also need this to be simple enough for everyone to be able to reuse their tech.

After reading the hype, I bought an #Onn 4K Pro #streaming box from #Walmart yesterday and hooked it up. Just like the #GoogleTV interface a lot more than the #Firestick one. It has the Google Assistant built into the box itself (ie the streaming unit is a mic as well as a speaker) and the remote is backlit, has a "find" feature and is generally comfortable to hold. I really like it. But I'm going to firesale (see what I did there?) some of my older firesticks now. Finally.

Hanno aggiunto l'app Xbox nello store della Fire Stick, ma al momento non è ancora scaricabile. Ci sono rumor che dicono che dovrebbe diventarlo nel corso di questo mese.

#Amazon #Firestick sucks. I've had this 4K MAX now for only a little over 30 days and it completely shit the bed. It connects to the internet but that's all it does. None of the apps work. I did every kind of reset and reboot you can think of an still it doesn't work. Now I get to fight with a mega corporation to honor their warranty without charging me 16 bucks for a replacement.

I turned on my TV for the first time in 6 months! Yes, I am neither joking nor exaggerating that it has been that long. I discovered that in that time my 1st gen #Amazon #Firestick 4K is too fucking slow to do anything anymore. It's memory was 90% filled and there's nothing in the way of extra applications. It's just further evidence that corporations want you to continue to Consume. Consume. Consume.

The precious angels at #Apple don't want you running #AppleMusic on an Amazon #FireStick.

You have to link your Apple music account to Alexa in order for it to work.

But the FireStick is just #Android, right? Right!

So side loading the Apple Music APK works!

But… it is impossible to get past the EULA because my TV isn't a touchscreen.

JUST MAKE THINGS INTEROPERABLE YOU MOOMINS!

Spent 2.5 hours yesterday setting up an Amazon #Firestick for my parents.

Whoever designed this thing clearly never tested it with a pair of 80-year-olds. The setup took forever - with separate sign-ins required for each app, and the main UI is confusing even after a lot of practice.

Then, finally, “how do we turn subtitles on and off?”

It’s different in every app, because of course it is. 🤦‍♂️
