Yes you have seen it correctly, I'm now including __links__ the sh & console based browser, in my workflow, since it uses few resources, doesn't understand many of the modern languages, which results in pleasure and fun on the internet. You can even use links on a serial console like my Wyse terminal!

An Adblock is not need in this modus operandi.

The places which are properly coded, do not need even JavaScript are where I frequently get my information from

Was würdest Du nehmen?

#OS #Linux #Unix #BSD #GhostBSD #LinuxMint #VoidLinux #Windows11

Just tried latest GhostBSD 25.01-R14.2p1 release on ThinkPad X220.

Works really well.

The only thing that I needed to tweak were Fonts rendering settings:
- DPI: 76
- Smoothing: Grayscale
- Hinting: None

After that (and logout/login cycle) looks really well.

That was fun and satisfying BSD Sunday.

I fixed a Lenovo T520 and setup #GhostBSD for a friend, so he can start right out of the Box ...and of course get's the BSD Virus §8-)

Everything works nicely like it should. Sound had to be configured, because the volume was too silent.

Found the solution@
forums.freebsd.org/threads/aud

So, mixer pcm=1.0 did the trick on my side too.

Besides that, it just runs wonderful smooth with a old 256GB SSD and 8GB of RAM.

This Notebook is so old and it runs superb!
Once more I thought about how ressources are wasted these days.

Made another friend happy to tinker with the FreeBSD world. I'm sure I can "assimilate" him hehe...

Next project: I would like to use #FreeBSD with the "#Herbstluft #WM Oh my, so much to do, so less time §8-)

The FreeBSD ForumsSolved - Audio volume is too lowFreeBSD 14.0 fully updated, latest ports updated. Sound from analog line output works but the volume is too low. I cranked the physical volume control and these to the max: $ sysctl hw.snd.vpc_0db hw.snd.vpc_0db: 100 $ mixer vol vol.volume=1.00:1.00 vol.mute=0 What else can I try?

Tried to install #GhostBSD on my HP Stream 14 laptop just to see how it fares.
Installer couldn't launch X session and dropped me to shell.
Turns out, it needs to install xf86-video-intel package for X to work. But to install it I had to quickly write wpa_supplicant config (Wi-Fi only laptop). Then I could proceed with installation.
What's strange is the fact that GhostBSD advertises itself as secure desktop OS but as far as I could understand does not support full disk encryption. That's strange because #FreeBSD has no problems with installing to encrypted ZFS pools.
Not that it makes GhostBSD automatically insecure, but FDE feels necessary on laptops.

damne, mi amegas FreeBSD! 😈

interese, kiom da esperantistoj uzas BSD-operaciumon? supozeble, ne tro multe..
mi malkovras pli kaj pli multe da novaj elementoj de la sistemo dum ĉiutaga uzado; post preskaŭ 24 jaroj nur kun Linukso (plejparte Slackware, Debian), GhostBSD estas mia ĉefa operaciumo..

#Poll: are you "dog-fooding" #BSD?

Unlike previous polls (:BlobCatBlush:) I have tried really hard to make sure the options make sense. Select the lowest item in the list that is true for you:

Of the ten options, the first four are for those that don't use BSD regularly (let's say at least once per week).
The fifth option ("VPN/server") is for someone who uses BSD on a server they manage, but don't have physical access to.
The sixth ("at work") through eighth ("secondary laptop/desktop") is for those who regularly use some variant of BSD, but not as a primary daily driver.
The ninth and tenth options are for "dog-fooding"

Oh, right, and I'm sorry, but it really must need be said: MacOS, iOS, and other Apple products do not count. Sorry again. I will count any FOSS BSD-like OSes like #OpenIndiana, though.
I will also count retro commercial Unixes, if you're actually daily-driving them. ;)
