My landlord collects antique autos that were service vehicles. This is the car that was parked under our place and filling the kitchen with gas fumes. Apparently an original police and/or fire department vehicle, as you might be able to tell from some of the alternate custom design.

This sucker is LOUD. Imagine a big car engine running without an enclosure and drop the pitch two octaves but keep it that loud, you have some kind of an idea what it's like to stand 20m away from it.

Three-quarter view of an early 20th century Model T Ford automobile originally designed to be an emergency response vehicle for police or fire. It is immaculately kept and fully functional, the brass trim and shiny black metal body with wooden frame pieces around the long black leather seat / couch in front if a very small truck bed that reads PATROL in gold lettering on the side.

There's a beautiful NEC PC-8500 for sale on eBay. This is the ultimate evolution of the PC-8201a which is up there on the list of bestest computers. It's out of my price range but it would be cool if someone here wanted to give it a home. eBayNec Pc-8500 Vintage Laptop 1982 MicroComputer Works PC-8508A BK | eBay<p dir="ltr" style="margin-top:0; margin-bottom:0;">I don't know much about this very old laptop computer.  It comes with an AC cord that is meant for the machine.  All testing was done on the computer.  The computer booted up and the screen worked.  Was able to move from a couple screens, but not much more as I'm not sure how to write code for this machine.  Comes with two PC-8508A ROM/RAM Cartridges.  Not sure if they work or not.  Also comes with some of the original books and materials.  </p>

Interesting #geolocation challenge. Someone here is selling a glass positive from somewhere around 1917 or so. Curious what kind of #modelT cars these are. I suspect either the Los Angeles area mountains, Idyllwild area, or the Sierras -- somewhere an old car club would drive to.

I have a question for you: when early #automobiles were introduced like the #ModelT, what were people buying them for?

I’ve been trying to look at #HistoricalAdvertising to get a sense of who was buying these vehicles and what they were doing with them, but I’m struggling to find more.

Is anyone here particularly familiar with #TransportationHistory from the #1900s and #1910s in America?
