I saw the little City of #NorthVan snowplow clearing the Spirit Trail this morning. The Spirit Trail, and 1st Street bike lane were mostly clear. I assume most multi-use paths / trails were cleared. Other bike lanes, not so much. The shoulder bike lane on the Low Level Road looked unusable and the westbound section between St Andrews and St Georges was also uncleared.

1st Street bike lane (near Rona). Looks like it was cleared yesterday, but had a bit of new snow.
Shoulder bike lane on Esplanade St between St Andrews and St Georges. The bike lane is covered with snow and unusable.

District of North Van is proposing to cut funding in the 2025-29 budget for the Spirit Trail from 20M to 15M (50% of funding is external, it is a 2.5M DNV cut).

After committing to build the Spirit Trail East in 2023, this proposal will instead end the trail at Parkgate and not connect to Cates Park and Deep Cove.

We're requesting that you email council@dnv.org asking them not to withdraw from their previous commitments. Please do so by Monday 27-Jan at 12pm.

We adopted a puppy. I've been taking a stick with me on walks to distract him from going after the leash. It's getting to be quite a challenge to keep track of the dog's leaping around as we cross into traffic with a bag of poop in hand.

Pirouetting down Lonsdale is my new Broadway show.
