Responsible Statecraft · Can Bernie stop billions in new US weapons going to Israel?By William Hartung

«“I’m also coming to celebrate the long history of mutual respect and cooperation between our nations and to express hope that our relationship will only grow stronger in the coming years,” the second lady said. …»

I'm reeling as I read this wondering how it must sound to locals there. The only thing I can imagine them thinking "Is she getting a divorce?"

How can someone who's part of an administration openly mulling the hostile taking of your country by force even form a sentence with the words "mutual respect" in it without ending that sentence with "until recently". The present US government has unilaterally ended "mutual respect" by intentionally disrespecting the sovereignty of our peaceful neighbors. We have no reason to expect respect in return.

What the people running the US government are doing is nothing short of horrible, and the passive aggressive way they speak about it as if somehow they're doing everyone a favor just adds additional outrage to the mix.

The only people served are those like Putin who stand on the side waiting for newly minted enemies to weaken themselves so he can move in for the slaughter.

This is ugly. This is scary. I'm glad the people of Greenland didn't open their doors to this woman. Why should they?
