Verizon Wireless customer,

After you remove all the Meta apps, in Android, go to settings, go to apps, click on "see all", in the top right corner click on that 3 dot button, click show system apps.

Many of you have some Meta / Facebook apps built in to run in the background, even if you do not have an account with us. -- Some of you will be able to select the app and select "disable". Some of you will not have this option.

I just hope to find any that ain't #NetLock'd / #SimLock'd to #Verizon and that these support more than #US-#LTE bands...

  • Not shure if it needs a valid #SIM or just an #ICCID + #Ki on a #SIM to get going (cuz in #Germany it's hard [imported #SIM] to illegal [domestic SIMs] to get an anonymous SIM since 07/2017.

I just wish @eff wouldn't expect everyone to use #centralized, #SingleVendor & #SingleProvider services like @signalapp in the age of #CloudAct, cuz neither I nor anyone I'd trust would submit #PII to them like a #PhoneNumer as a matter of principle!

It has come to my attention that sending Mastodon links via text message are being filtered by either T-Mobile or Verizon.... Specifically, at least in this case, links to infosec.exchange ... I shared something with my family in a group SMS last night and no one received it. Today I'm with members of my family and have confirmed that any message with a infosec.exchange link does not go through but all messages without the link do - this involves messages of JUST the URL and ones with text and the URL. I also tried SMS to just my nephew with the URL and it disappeared into the void as well.

I use T-Mobile and the entirety of my family uses Verizon. I have not been able to test to another T-Mobile customer as of yet. I will test with other instance links in a bit.

🔒 Verizon call log exposure was more than a bug—it was a real-time surveillance risk.

A serious flaw in Verizon’s pre-installed Call Filter iOS app allowed unauthorized access to detailed incoming call logs of any Verizon user.

Discovered by ethical hacker Evan Connelly in February and patched in March, the issue:
・📱Affected millions using the app to block spam and ID unknown numbers
・📂 Could have exposed call histories of journalists, law enforcement, and public officials
・🚨 Raised massive concerns around privacy and real-time surveillance

Since I'm now working for a company HQ'd in Australia, I'm going to be doing a lot more meetings in the evening while multiple other people in the house are using the internet. So I decided it was time to switch back from 320Mbps down/20Mbps up cable internet to 1Gb #Verizon #FIOS (I used to have FIOS but gave it up years ago to save money).
As a result, I was reminded yet again of what a complete clusterfuck Verizon's website and onboarding are.

Now maybe Whitacker was just terribly unreasonable. And maybe it made perfect sense to give the go-ahead for another Starship launch only a few weeks after the other explosion. But it seems very reasonable to ask whether Musk’s de facto control over the FAA has led to more lax oversight of his rocket launches. These questions are reasonable and inevitable when you’re in effect running the agency that regulates your rocket launches. Again, the facts currently available don’t prove anything in themselves. But they raise more than enough questions to press for more information about who’s making decisions to keep the skies of the Caribbean safe, and whether reality-star-turned-Transportation-Secretary Sean Duffy is fulfilling his commitments to the American people.
