(Found myself thinking about his daughter, who distanced herself after he cheated on her mum. Must be weird anyway to have a famous dad with an autobiography out which you're mentioned in, but even a bit more complicated under those circumstances.)

El «contenedor inteligente» es una estrategia retardista del envase de usar y tirar para seguir aplazando lo inevitable. La industria trata de legitimar unos datos cada vez más cuestionados, a la vez que evita asumir el coste real de su modelo de negocio.

En el fondo el afán es desviar la atención sobre soluciones como la reutilización de envases y los sistemas de depósito, devolución y retorno en los puntos de venta. Son soluciones que internalizarían parte de los costes ambientales y sociales en el modelo de negocio del producto envasado.

Pero las corporaciones de la distribución se empeñan en deslumbrarnos con tecnologías que no aportan cambios relevantes en el modelo de producción y consumo.

A prominent Democrat has accused Republican lawmakers of wanting to cut $1.5 trillion from Social Security.

Sheldon Whitehouse, chair of the #Senate #Budget #Committee, told lawmakers during a hearing regarding Social Security that
💥 a sect of Republican lawmakers are planning to make cuts to the national benefits program, which provides payments to millions of retired and disabled Americans every month.
👉"The current Republican Study Committee [ #RSC ] budget, representing 80 percent of House Republicans,
🆘 proposed cutting $1.5 trillion of Social Security benefits over the next ten years," Whitehouse said.
"It would reduce the benefit formula and raise the retirement age to 69, which would especially hurt low-income retirees."
⭐️The RSC, comprising 170 GOP lawmakers, published a budget proposal in March this year that would include "modest adjustments to the retirement age for future retirees, to account for increases in life expectancy."
While that specific figure of cuts is not mentioned in the budget document, the White House has said it would amount to "$1.5 trillion in cuts."
Newsweek has contacted the RSC for comment via email outside of normal working hours.
