Just opened, my daffodilies are looking fine and frilly

Photograph of a daffodil flower with out of focus green foliage, flowers and a grey wall in the background. This variety of daffodil has six yellow, kite-shaped petals that radiate from an orange-yellow central corona or trumpet which is essentially a cup structure with a frilly ridge at the opening. Since the petals are behind the corona, when viewing the bloom head on it looks like six triangles surrounding a frilly cup. The interior contains yellow stamens with yellow anthers and a yellow pistil with a yellow stigma.

Good morning tooters. It was a pretty fresh 7c when I woke a little after 6am. The sky was just starting to lighten, a lovely quiet time of day. It’s about 9-10c right now & will be heading up to around 23c, so very pleasant.
I’ve had my brekky eggs , just finished my coffee ️ & I’ve also fed my sourdough starter as I want to make some bread. I will be having a shower soon & I plan to head out for a walk around the river, I might need a jacket out there for a little while. I didn’t get my planned time in the garden yesterday afternoon, after my walk with my daughter & family I just puttered around inside. So I hope to do something outside today. Moving my little inground compost bin is on the agenda as well.

No.3 in my series on the life cycle of the common frog:

Hundreds, if not thousands, of tadpoles wriggled about in the sunlit water earlier today.
Of course, only a tiny proportion will make it to froghood. They are predated by birds, newts, dragonfly larvae, grass snakes, frogs (!) and...... each other.
The pond is only 1.5 metres long and surrounded by tall trees and houses, but one year a pair of passing mallards spotted it and dropped in for a feed.

I love this entirely wild patch at the front of the garden. Everything, apart from the shrubs, is self-sown (or was already here when we bought the house). I do not do anything apart from cutting it down once a year in late autumn. At the moment, the #bluebells are flowering.
Unlike the rest of the garden it is visible from the road. I am certain that some uninspired people think it is an uncared-for weed patch.

All saved tomato seeds from last year have sprouted up and the tomatillo seeds I gathered from the ground in the garden a month ago are up too. Heat mat turned off. They were started on April 1.

A photo of a plant tray with 18 square pots that have new seedlings growing in them. 15 are tomatoes and 3 are tomatillo. The varieties are Amish paste, Chadwick cherry, San Marzano, Flamme, Principe Borghese, and Rio Grande tomatillo. In the upper right is a black container with blue lid that has a hole in it with 4 pieces of apple scion wood sticking out. They have been in cold storage for a year and seem to be alive and have callused up on the end so they are in water to see if they make roots.

Good morning tooting friends. It’s a lovely morning outside at around 13c & we’re heading to 21c again. The temps appear to be rising again later this week which surprised me, although considering our summer, maybe it shouldn’t! It does mean I’ll get some more swimming days in after midweek.
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I slept in again. It was after 7am before I woke up, I must admit that having a nice dark bedroom does help & the fact it’s cooler & I was nice & snug. It was a restless night though, managing to undo my watch & woke at one stage to find it under me .
It’s school holidays, so my #Monday walk with my daughter & grandson will today add my 7yr old granddaughter. She is looking forward to it for various reasons not least that there is a play park at the end of the walk .
I haven’t much more to do in the emptying on my raised garden bed, then I can fully dismantle it & start a new ground level bed & plant some shade trees. That’ll be something for this afternoon.
