Here’s a question for all you #foodies who follow me. Our move to #Knoxville is fast approaching, and along with the move comes some changes in the kitchen. Sadly, at our new house there are electric appliances; I’ve loved my gas stove for the past 7 years. The stovetop is a glass top, and here’s where my question is based. For the past 10 or so years I’ve been cooking almost exclusively with cast iron. It truly does make a difference. My father-in-law informed me that one can’t use cast iron on a glass top stovetop. He said this as if it were an undisputed fact, but my Google searches indicate it is in fact possible to use cast iron on glass top, as long as one is careful. So I’m wondering if any of you have had experience using cast iron on glass tops. My feeling is akin to you’ll pry my cast iron from my cold, dead hands.
