EVERY WINTER PRECIPITATION (AND HAIL!):

The past several days have been a smorgasbord of #winter #precipitation falling across the #Northland. That included #snow, #sleet, and #freezingrain.

There was even #hail with a couple #thunderstorms Friday afternoon, including the first #severe thunderstorm warnings for 2025!

#Snowfall is still occurring in some parts this afternoon. That will move out by tonight.

A list of the largest hailstones that fell across the Northland on March 28, 2025, measured by their diameter. They were 1.25-inches in South Range, Wisconsin, 1-inch in Wrenshall, Minnesota, 0.88-inches in Oliver, Wisconsin, 0.75-inches in Tamarack, Minnesota and Washburn, Wisconsin, and 0.70-inches in Superior, Wisconsin.
Freezing rain totals measured in the Northland since March 28, 2025 through March 30, 2025 include 0.33-inches in Wales, Minnesota, 0.25-inches in Hibbing, Minnesota, 0.20-inches in Silver Bay, Wisconsin, 0.14-inches in Ashland, Wisconsin, 0.13-inches in the Duluth, Minnesota area, and 0.13-inches in Herbster, Wisconsin.
The highest snowfall totals reported to the National Weather Service offices in Duluth, Minnesota and Marquette, Michigan as of 3 p.m. (Central Daylight Time) on March 30, 2025 include 8-inches at Ironwood, Michigan, 6.2-inches in Bergland, Michigan, 5.8-inches Cedar, Wisconsin, 5.3-inches in Ashland, Wisconsin, 5.1-inches in Ontonagon, Michigan, 5-inches in Moquah, Wisconsin, and 4.8-inches in Namekagon, Wisconsin.
The satellite and radar over the Northland at 3:45 p.m. on March 30, 2025, shows snow showers continues over northwest Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula as it moves to the east. Cloud cover persists over the Minnesota region, with some clearing taking place over parts of Itasca and Koochiching counties.
