Being a Federal Employee is so Exhausting

Off My Chest: I am just exhausted. I am with GSA and have struggled for about a week to know if I should take the DRP. I keep going back and forth—whether I should look out for myself or look out for my coworkers. My severance would be minimal and I am likely the first to get RIF’d. I really wanted the Administrator to tell us if more RIFs are definitely coming to help me make a decision. All GSA said was additional RIFs are dependent on how many people take the DRP/VERA/VSIP. This was not helpful at all. I feel depressed. I feel broken. I feel tired. I am starting to get almost daily migraines. I sleep as soon as I get home from work and have insomnia or nightmares some nights. I dread going into the workplace since every conversation is centered around firings. I hate seeing my field office slowly crumble because more and more people are taking the DRP or retiring since that’s the best option they see (no judgement towards them, it’s just sad seeing so many people go). This administration needs to wake up and see the damage it’s doing. So many people fought so hard and earned their seats with the Government, and yet we’re being punished for things that we never did. I am just tired.Any words of encouragement would be helpful as well as sharing your own stories and experiences. Love you Fed Fam❤️

“Protest” as a Wikipedia Topic for Public Interest

After the protests this weekend, I wondered if there had been a surge in public interest in the general Wikipedia topic of "protest." So I plugged it into Wikipedia Seismograph to find out. Oh yes, there absolutely was. This also gave me a chance to test Wikipedia Attention Surfer to see what other topics were "vibing" with Protest, in terms of similar public interest.

At a local café and the staff were talking in support about Hadachek v. Oregon and Intact Global's challenge to expand protection from child genital cutting to all children including preventing circumcision of boys and intersex surgeries.

People are talking in support of genital autonomy this is not a fringe issue, less than 1 in 10 children are genitally cut in Oregon, and Oregonians are happy to fight for the rights of all children!

Exerpt from my speech:
"I’ve been speaking up against child genital cutting for almost a decade with limited success until I moved here. Portland, Oregon really became my home because we also talk to neighbors here, and we know them. We know that they’re exceptionally diverse, and I believe we’re proud to fight for human rights because we know that. [Pause]
Many people assume that I was not affected by childhood genital cutting, but childhood genital cutting, including circumcision, affects more than just boys and men."
